Thomas Furguson (Ferguson) was born 22 Nov, 1825 in Saline County, Illinois to James and Rachael (Huddleston) Ferguson. He died 20 May 1915 and is buried in Pleasant View Cemetery, Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas.
Thomas was 5 feet and 8 inches tall, had a dark complexion, blue eyes, and dark hair. His occupation was farmer. He married Doxy Ann Mitchell on 14 Oct 1847 in Gallatin County, Illinois. They had the following children: Sarah Jane, james E., William H., Robert Wilson, Harriet Elizabeth, Mary Ann, and Hettie. He enrolled in the service on 12 Aug 1862 in Staunton, Illinois, mustered in on 4 Sep 1862, and was discharged on 15 Jul 1865 at Mobile, Alabama as a Sergeant. He served under Captain Stephen Sawyer, Company I, 122nd Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He participated in the following engagements with the enemy:
