Samuel Jewett LeFevre was born on 16 Apr 1841 in Little York, Montgomery, Ohio, United States, son of William C. Minor LeFevre (abt 1814-1869) and Martha Jewett (1817-1865). The Early YearsIn 1850, Samuel, age nine, resided with his father William C. M., the head of household and a Physician in Logan Township, Fountain, Indiana, United States. His mother Martha J. maintained the household and also raised his sister Mary A. By 1860, Samuel, age nineteen, had relocated to Illinois and resided with his father William, the head of household and a Farmer in Drummer, Ford, Illinois, United States. His mother Martha maintained the household and also raised Martha Chandler, 12 (not clear if she is a relative). The Civil WarSamuel Jewett LeFevre a twenty-one-year-old resident of Paxton, Ford, Illinois, United States enlisted in the Union Army for three years on 14 Aug 1862 as a Corporal. Corporal LeFevre was assigned to Company K, 76th Regiment, Illinois Infantry on 22 Aug 1862.[5] Corporal LeFevre was listed as wounded at Fort Blakely, Alabama on 9 Apr 1865. By 1870, Samuel, age twenty-nine, the head of household and a Farmer resided with his wife of four years, Laura in Drummer, Ford, Illinois, United States. Laura maintained the household and raised their daughter Anna. In addition, there were four boarders in the household. Samuel, age thirty-nine, the head of household and a Farmer resided with his wife of fourteen years, Laura in Gibson City, Ford, Illinois, United States in 1880. Laura maintained the household and raised their daughters Anna and Etta. As of 1900, Samuel, age fifty-nine, the head of household and a Coal Dealer resided with his wife of thirty-four years, Laura in Drummer, Ford, Illinois. Laura maintained the household and their adult daughter Anna, a Schoolteacher was part of the household. The census indicates Laura has given birth to two children and they are both living in 1900. There is a Henry LeFevre headstone/and memorial associated with Samuel's findagrave memorial. It also indicates they have been married since 1866. In 1910, Samuel, age sixty-nine, the head of household, (it shows his income is his own meaning he might be retired) resided with his wife of forty-four years, Laura on North Third Street in Gibson City, Ford, Illinois and they are empty nesters Death & BurialCorporal Samuel Jewett LeFevre, son of William C. Minor LeFevre and Martha Jewett, died on Thursday, 27 Sep 1917 at the age of 76 years, 5 months, 11 days is interred and commemorated in Drummer Township Cemetery, Gibson City, Ford County, Illinois, United States. At the time of his death in 1917, he and Laura had been married 50 years, 9 months, 4 days. Samuel's wife Laura Carver Le Fevre died on 8 Sep 1922 in Gibson City, Ford, Illinois
